Another Mass Shooting

It’s Labor Day Weekend and there has been ANOTHER Mass shooting under THIS administration. Most of America agrees to common sense gun reform except our President is owned by the NRA and lacks common sense. Again the suspect was a White Male. But the Republican and Conservative talking points want us to believe that we should fear Muslims and Migrants even though not one mass shooting has been by anything other than white males who they claim have mental illness. Well, if Trump had not rolled backed Obama’s safeguard so people with mental illness could not purchase firearms maybe some of those lives lost could have been saved. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Trump is quick to blame Mental illness when he knows he cut the budget to MHS. It took me over three months to find a therapist for my teenager due to their cuts in funding but she was 18 so she could easily go purchase a gun. If this administration is not going to move on gun reform they can AT LEAST stop trying to gut Obamacare because it protects people with pre existing conditions and every person injured in a mass shooting has just had their life turned upside down. They are going to need medical treatment as well as Mental therapy for PTSD. I watched an interview with family members of those killed in shootings and they said the nation never gets a chance to learn about the victims and grieve for them because another shooting has happened.💔 #prayersfortexas

Pants Suit Nation

My story of my ten year battle with my tumor was featured on Pants Suit Nation on Facebook. This is like the fifth time something I’ve written has been featured on their site. I love the community there. Everyone is super supportive. It’s like each person is giving you a hug of support. It is really appreciated. When you have a brain tumor or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) it’s easy to get really down and depressed. In those ten years I’ve lost the majority of my friends. I’m not as close with my family and my husband cheated on me while I was still in the ICU. The first thing I did when I got out of the hospital was file for divorce, then I had to do radiation, a fast moving toddler, and a crumbling marriage on my own. But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger 💪🏽💪🏽💅🏽🙌🏽

Thoughts ten years later

The day after finding out you have a Brain Tumor.......I don’t remember much, I found out about the tumor in the ER but they couldn’t give me details until I saw the surgeon. That was the longest night of my life. I remember meeting my neurosurgeon selected based on the insurance I had. I’m about to sound like Bernie for 2.5 seconds Let’s be clear, YOU THINK YOU HAVE GOOD INSURANCE UNTIL YOU FIND OUT YOU HAVE A BRAIN TUMOR! 😑 My doctor had never operated on my type of tumor before but I could go to LA where they commonly treat them, if I could get my insurance to authorize me to go out of network, you know the deal. In the meantime, this whopper is pressing on my brain stem and had been the entire pregnancy. I was in a learning hospital so doctors and interns kept coming in to read my chart amazed that I survived my entire pregnancy and the birth with such a large tumor. Plus the type of tumor I had was rare and was usually found in older people. My doctor said I was dying when he met me; basically walking and dying. I was going to drop dead at any moment. I was the youngest patient diagnosed but even still I didn’t know how much time I was working with. Basically, pay attention when you select your medical plan! So many ppl think “I don’t get sick” “I don’t need insurance” are the same one ppl with GoFundMe pages when they get sick 🤷🏽‍♀️ Vote so we all can have quality insurance. Your life can change in the blink of an eye, 10 years ago mine did. #votebluein2020 #saveACA #saveobamacare

Ten years and still fighting

TEN years ago on August 9th my world changed in a blink of an eye when I walked into an ER and heard “u have a mass” and didn’t come home for a year. After just having a baby 3 weeks prior. Aaliyah and I learned how to walk together. (She will always be faster lol) but Jordan suffered the worst. The tumor doesn’t just affect you. Its a cruel disease to sit back watching it change you AND the people around you. So naive ten years ago but what choice did I have but to fight? I don’t regret one surgery cuz I’m alive with my girls. I’m blessed. Thank you to every person who has ever said a prayer for me in my journey. I truly appreciate it. I love my village. 💪🏽🙏🏽💛💋#tenmoreyears #nineteensurgerieslater #VPshunts #acousticneuroma #anniversaryofmyrebirth

El Paseo has to be ENOUGH

It angers me that Black men can't survive a routine traffic stop, nonviolent Hispanic asylum seekers are detained for weeks without food or a shower, children are put in cages but a White male active shooter is arrested peacefully and fed 3 meals a day and we are told they are “good people.” WTF?! Hell to the Nah! You have hard working parents who are afraid to go ID their children or seek medical help for the fear of ICE and deportation due to the hate stroked by this president. People can make all the excuses they want but this man targeted BROWN ppl. Who does the president attack? BROWN ppl. CASE CLOSED. No excuses! This shit ain’t funny. Moscow Mitch do your job!

Btw, remember to vote blue cuz all these ppl injured in shootings are now pre existing conditions and will need healthcare. They can’t get a therapist to treat the PTSD they will likely have since he cut the budget for MHS. But hey he still has $$$ for his wall cuz we should be afraid of the immigrants and Muslims remember!?

And like my dear friend Laura said, if I die in a mass shooting ya’ll Betta know to make it political 😘😉 #gunreformnow #votebluein2020
