Thoughts ten years later

The day after finding out you have a Brain Tumor.......I don’t remember much, I found out about the tumor in the ER but they couldn’t give me details until I saw the surgeon. That was the longest night of my life. I remember meeting my neurosurgeon selected based on the insurance I had. I’m about to sound like Bernie for 2.5 seconds Let’s be clear, YOU THINK YOU HAVE GOOD INSURANCE UNTIL YOU FIND OUT YOU HAVE A BRAIN TUMOR! πŸ˜‘ My doctor had never operated on my type of tumor before but I could go to LA where they commonly treat them, if I could get my insurance to authorize me to go out of network, you know the deal. In the meantime, this whopper is pressing on my brain stem and had been the entire pregnancy. I was in a learning hospital so doctors and interns kept coming in to read my chart amazed that I survived my entire pregnancy and the birth with such a large tumor. Plus the type of tumor I had was rare and was usually found in older people. My doctor said I was dying when he met me; basically walking and dying. I was going to drop dead at any moment. I was the youngest patient diagnosed but even still I didn’t know how much time I was working with. Basically, pay attention when you select your medical plan! So many ppl think “I don’t get sick” “I don’t need insurance” are the same one ppl with GoFundMe pages when they get sick 🀷🏽‍♀️ Vote so we all can have quality insurance. Your life can change in the blink of an eye, 10 years ago mine did. #votebluein2020 #saveACA #saveobamacare
